Alice Toumit’s work stands out by the combination of two know-how, the crafts of jewelry and pottery. This search for contrasts between the materials-roughness of sandstone and delicacy and sparkle of metal- is also present in her artistic quest. Her realistic animal portraits on a crimped bust, her mountains shaped with geometric blocks, her totem like figurines, testify of these quirky, multiple worlds. However, despite their diversity, these artworks seem to be inhabited by the spirits of nature they represent, and they keep surprising us by their strong suggestive power.
