Ulrike Weiss

The ceramics of Ulrike Weiss puts the emphasis on colors. Her simple cylindrical shapes in molded porcelain contrast with the density of her layered enamels : opulence, vibration and sensuality of the surface sometimes mat sometimes glossy, reveal her fascination for the multiple layers of nature, skylines, lands, seas, fields and their subtle shades. Therefore the mottled glaze of her collection "celestial lichen", seem to spread like a vegetal micro organism. For Ulrike Weiss the color is a non stop playing ground, set between the perpetual quest of harmony and the emotion aroused by it.
